And the Emmy goes to.... INTEL!
The help in development of the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) has won Intel an Emmy. That's right, Intel, along with several other companies, will be awarded an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as this years Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 7. The achievement recognizes Intel and others for development and wide spread adoption of HDMI, which provides the digital connection between HD TVs and other consumer electronic devices such as set top boxes, DVD and Blu-ray media players allowing for superior home viewing experiences. Additionally, Intel worked to meet the needs of the content creation community through its development of High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) which protects the content rights during transmission from a source device to a display device. To date, over a billion HDMI/HDCP interfaces are in use today worldwide. The National Television Academy's website offers a bit more information.
Seriously. Yes, I said an Emmy!
