The long, yet short road to the CES show!

ces.gifIt's December 19 and there is less than 3 weeks before thousands of tech geeks congregate in the streets of Las Vegas to attend the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show. For Intel, this is a very important show for us because it allows us to showcase our very cool products, talk with real people and share our story. It's one thing to have conversation online; it's another to foster those same relationships up close and personal.

For me though, it's going to be beyond hectic; but that's how I live my life anyway so bring it.

I will be in Vegas for about 5 days supporting the show blogging, recording video, twittering, doing interviews, etc. Here are some things you can expect from me while I am there:

Michael the gadget guy.
I plan on reviewing about ten different gadgets, specifically for PC.com. PC.com was developed for the everyday consumer that wants to learn about PCs and cool technology, but may be overwhelmed by the technical information available today. The site includes a library of how-to articles, access to industry experts and product reviews, entertaining celebrity technology makeover videos (Celebrity Techover), along with multiple opportunities for community interaction and shop section to purchase a laptop or pc. I will be reviewing the following products:

  • Digital Picture Frames
  • Netbooks
  • MID (Mobile Internet Devices)
  • GPS systems
  • Video Phone (VoIP)
  • New mobile phones
  • Webcams
  • Video Cameras
  • Blue Ray players
  • Video game consoles
These videos will be specifically for PC.com but I will also post em' up on Youtube as well.

Me & HP ... AGAIN? Uh oh!
Well not really. I did have a great time when I worked there; but for the show, I will be hook'n up with some of my old friends and getting their take on their latest and greatest products. I will specifically be reviewing HP's Netbook computers for PC.com. I will also be doing some joint interviews with Greta from HP who will also be taking video and twittering from the show. I am looking forward to meeting her and her crew.

Hopefully, Billy Bush will get sick and ...
they will need me to fill in as a guest host for Access Hollywood. Rumor has it that they will be broadcasting live from CES. All joking aside, I will be spending about an hour a day blogging from the NBC booth so hopefully I will be able get a front row seat to hear the latest Hollywood gossip. I am a huge fan of Brit and Paris *grin*.

Start your computer and prepare the way for ...
Digital Drag Race. Yup, that's right. We will be having a live Digital Drag Race on Friday and Saturday at the Intel booth. I will be covering these events in real time and provide footage, pictures and exclusive "behind the scenes" interviews.

Party @ Vegas? I am so there!
A few you years ago, I attended Cnet's annual CES party at the Palms. I had a blast, if I remember correctly. Actually, this year, there are a few parties going on that I'd like to sneak in to. On Thursday night, I may try and get into the Zappos party if they let me. I requested an invite to the "It Won't Stay in Vegas" party at the Venetian but I haven't heard back. And, on Friday, I will be enjoying a drink or two at the LAX Night Club (Intel Party) where the Counting Crows will be performing live. I'll be there for sure.

I will also be rubbing shoulders with the Intel Insiders at our booth throughout the show, hanging with my good friend Ted Murphy and spending some time at CntrStg sponsored by HP at the luxurious Wynn Hotel. I am sure there will be random tweet ups happening in and around the show and I try and keep everyone updated. If you are attending CES and will be creating any media content, please use the CES09 tags so that it will get included in the Consumer Electronics Insider. For Twitter, use the #ces09 hashtag to be included.

Follow me on Twitter, if you want!

Great post Michael. You are going to be really busy. This will be my 8th year at CES so I know how you feel. I work for Philips and will be doing some blogging as well. In fact, I found your blog about a month ago and
we love it. We are building our new blog (set to launch in Q1) using many of the same elements you have here. Thank you!

I am still a nOOb when it comes to blogging but we are catching up! I also subscribe to your other social media blog; and it's been a great help for me and my team as we start planning to get into this space.

I also went to the CES website. Did you build that with CEA? I think it's awesome how you use many of these awesome tools. I will be signing up with Twitter over the Holidays...a little scared. haha, but I will surely follow you.

Maybe we can meet up at the show. I will stop by your booth.
