Twilight and Laptops

By day I'm a media relations manager and extol the virtues of Intel mobile technology for notebooks and netbooks and I really enjoy what I do. I must confess however that after hours I'm a suburban soccer mom addicted to Twilight. Of course my Intel based technology does help keep me abreast of all the latest Twilight happenings. I can keep up with the news of the director change for New Moon, watch the movie trailers, view photos, read Midnight Sun online and participate in fan groups like TwilightMoms and Twittermoms Twilight group. I was wondering what if I could combine my two passions? Laptops and Twilight? Here's my attempt with my real laptop recommendations for some of my favorite fictional Twilight characters. These recommendations are based on what I've learned of these characters based on the book series and contain spoilers.dsfsfdsf

  • Alice Cullen: The only choice really for a true Fashionista is the HP's Vivienne Tam clutch.tam clutch.jpg

  • Bella: I noticed that she had a technology upgrade from the book to the movie and was using the Apple MacBook in the movie. It's an excellent choice so I'll leave it at that.
  • Carlisle: As a doctor who works at both the hospital, but also works from home sometimes and moves often, the Dell Latitude E4200 would be a good choice.
  • Edward: When money is not an issue and for someone who likes to indulge in high performance cars a good option would be a high performance laptop such as the Asus Lamborghini VX3.
  • Emmett Cullen: For a guy who likes to wrestle irritable grizzlies and lives for the fight my recommendation is a Panasonic Toughbook, because it's tough enough to endure whatever he can dish out.
  • Esme: For the mom on the go the Samsung X460 is powerful to do design work for big redecoration projects and stylish enough to have out in the open.
  • Jacob: Considering he has rebuilt cars and motorcycles I'm figuring he's DIY and will use boxed Intel parts to make a kickin' system. I would recommend using the new Intel Core i7 processor as the base for a home built desktop system.
  • James, Victoria and Laurent: A nomad's life is hard and for these folks constantly on the go I'd recommend the Clarion MiND. Small and lightweight enough for them to carry and with Intenet access and GPS it's perfect for Vampires who enjoy tracking.
  • Jasper: The Sony Vaio Z Series is a good all around notebook for staying in touch and can help the recently settled in Vampire keep in touch with former friends and family all over the country
  • Rosalie Cullen: For the Vampire who likes to seen and admired she would do well to carry a VooDoo Envy 133. The sleek, slim design demands attention from admirers.
  • Do you agree with these picks? What would you recommend differently and why?

Ahhh.....the love of the vampire. I have recently discovered some great videos of Robert Pattinson on YouTube that I only watch on my HP Intel Centrio laptop. If only he weren't 22 years old....a bit young for this chick. :)

What a fun idea! Who do I have to know to get one of those Tam Clutches? Do they come in Periwinkle? (AKA "Twilight", but now that word has other meanings!) So...Bella is smart yet simple, making MacBook the perfect choice for her. Edward's laptop is sleek and sexy. Yum. On the laptop. Ok, ok, on Edward, too. Moving on... Emmett and Esme's laptops are an exact slice off of their personality - excellent. Jasper doesn't do much for me, and neither does his laptop, so good decision there also. The three McNasty Vampires can burn in hell as far as I am concerned, so they wouldn't need a laptop. :) I didn't get a pop-up for Jacob or Rosalie. Jacob would need something that has the capacity to hold bigger bigger bigger memory files. Rosalie needs a mirror as her screen saver. Hey, that is a COOL idea!! SHINY SCREEN!! Let it be known that if anyone uses that idea, I am copywriting it this very second. C'mon, someone make me rich!! So that leaves us with Carlisle. I want him to have something with leather on the outside. (Like a great piece of antique furniture, NOT like a Harley vest. And no fringe.)

All the women in the office have been drooling over the Tam clutch. We've been begging and pleading to get one. We had to purchase a couple, I'll get to try it out in January at CES. I'll let you know if it's as awesome as it looks!

All I'm sayin' is 22 is more than legal.

Don't forget Alice's love for the bright yellow Porsche. Wasn't there a Porsche Laptop for a while too a long time ago?

Hey Annie, no Porshe laptop. The bright yellow laptop is the Lamborghini. I thought that was a better fit for Edward. It's also quite large and with Alice being so petite, thought the smaller netbook Tam clutch was a better and more fashionable fit for her.

I love this blog Connie, almost as much as I love the Twilight series! My favorite is by far the choice for Alice. I think we should pitch a cameo of the clutch for New Moon!

Great post, Connie! So what would the Volturi carry? I'm thinking MIDs... they go all over the world to take care of "official" vampire business and need immediate internet access, I'd imagine. And they're small enough that they can fit in their black robe pockets. What do you think?

While Bella starts with an Apple MacBook for the movie (=book 1), shouldn't she get a new notebook for book 4 to correspond with her change? After all...she did get a new car in book 4 too.

I think you've nailed it Connie! Perfect pairings in my opinion.

With the second movie in development soon, I'd recommend you send this over to the new director (assuming that person has been chosen), and see about getting some cool tech in movie 2. You are the only person who could accomplish it. I know you will!

Dec 10  |  Connie Brown said:

Kari, I agree that the Volturi guard would probably carry MIDs like the Clarion MiND or since they are from Italy the BenQ when they travel. With having so much information to house I imagine at their fortress they'd be running some Intel Xeon based servers and upgrading to Intel Core i7 desktops since they are the fastest processors on the planet and the Volturi has to stay on top of things to keep order around the world as well as be ready to take on anyone looking to overthrow them.

Great point Evonne. Do you have a recommendation or should we wait until movie 4 comes out? I'm sure we'll have some even cooler, faster and more amazing form factors by then.

if you are a vista user you can decorate your desktop at tech-chic.com and have a vivienne tam designer desktop! If you want a vt mini you can also buy one as well. Be sure to check out the world virtual tour with vivienne she takes you to her fashino hotspots. The best part of it all is that it's a joint marketing program with intel.....
