WiMAX Anticipation High in Portland
I'm writing from the Portland launch of WiMAX using a WiMAX enabled notebook from Lenovo. The real story here is around making wireless fast, affordable and accessible - everywhere. You'd think this is simple enough but it's really quite complicated. Thankfully, Clear and Intel together have achieved giving Portland the fastest wireless in the west.So what is WiMAX anyways? It's essentially a giant hotspot over an entire market. In this case, Portland. Coverage extends as far west as Forest Grove, as far north as Clark County/Battle Ground, Wash. to Gresham/Troutdale in the east and south to Wilsonville. You could stream a movie for the kids in the back seat while traveling all over town. Get lost? Just open your notebook and hit up an online mapping site. No more worrying about trying to find a coffee shop or bookstore with WiFi because WiMAX is everywhere! We also had the treat of a video chat with Portland Mayor Sam Adams. Check out a couple photos from the event.

Sounds like it was a great event! I'm so excited to get WiMAX! I just told my husband that it would make a great gift for my birthday. :)
