Intel Science Talent Search

We're finally here! After summers spent in labs and hospitals the 40 finalists for the Intel Science Talent Search 2009 have arrived in D.C.!

I've spent past the past few days getting to know a little about the students and already have a new facebook friend! As I've mentioned in previous posts these are no ordinary high school seniors. They've entered world changing projects into the Intel Science Talent Search including Alzheimer's detection, identifying Global Warming trends and Robotics.

For most of these teenagers, this week in D.C. will impact the rest of their lives; allowing them to make life-long friends, the possibility of a $100,000 college scholarship and mingling with the most brilliant minds of their generation.

Here's a great video of some of the finalists arriving to the St. Regis Hotel in D.C. (we didn't catch Brad Pitt on camera but we heard he was in the bar!) and their first impressions.

I bet you're having a blast! The energy and brilliance from these kids is infectious, as I recall from my trip to last year's ISEF.

I'm enjoyin' your photos, especially this on of three finalists outside the snow embellished White House http://tinyurl.com/chd6bn.

It's fun following the action on Twitter http://tinyurl.com/bmml33.

May the best scientist win!
