Compal MID: The Un-Geek Review
Yes, this is my first video blog ever. It literally took me about 3 hours to record just the intro and I finally just said "forget it; I don't care how lame I look!"
The purpose of these videos is to provide the less-geeky folks a review of some really cool technology, starting with a MID (Mobile Internet Device). Since I am only about 50% geek, I will not be taking these gadgets apart, replacing the motherboard or spitting out a bunch of acronyms that I don't understand. Rather, I will talk more about features and usage models; and answer the question of "how will this piece of technology make my life easier". Enjoy.

Dude, love your openness and honesty. Good job. Are you sure you're only 50% tech geek?

You did a great job on the video. On the Compal MID, I like how you can move the icons around with touch. The device itself reminds me a little of My Archos 7.
By the way, I didn't recognize you without the glasses! :) Take care.

Thanks Ray but yes, about 50% geek, 50% cool. hehe..
Thanks Patrick, I am actually playing around with the BenQ right now. Love it. It reminds me of the iPhone and is blazing fast.

"50% geek, 50% cool" implies that they're mutually exclusive. That geeks aren't cool. I represent that remark. ;-)

Josh -- you "represent" that remark or "resent" that remark. If the former, we are quite similar. : )

It's good to set expectations low, but you under-estimate the power of speaking like a real person. I found this really interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and "un-geek guy" wisdom.

Excellent video. I have heard of MIDS for quite some time and you break it down quite well. It's just like an iPhone w/o the phone, right? Do you need a service plan?

engadget did a review of the Ben-Q MID a last year sometime. Have you had a chance to play with it yet?
