I got my hands on an Ultra thin laptop

... an Acer Aspire to be exact. I was able to snatch it up for the weekend; and decided to take it to friend's barbecue to see what people thought about it.

Clearly it doesn't weigh much, has a webcam and is really thin. All super important features. Based on what you showed us, it would be hard to say it's a bad thing. How does it compare in terms of price to the Mac Book? Glad to get a chance to see it in many people's hand and hear their reaction. And, don't be so hard on yourself. The video was very good.

I've researching upon this ACER. It's aleady been sold in Thailand. There are only two models available out here and both of them is Core 2 Solo. That's why I'm still researching (big serious regarding their spec and speed)

Still, not nearly as thin as the MacBook Air...

Cool video, thanks. I have a few Toshiba Tecra R500s at work. They're much smaller than that, but way more expensive. Acer is doing good work. They can make a great machine at a decent price.

not small enough, 13.3 inch is the new standard.

The problem is acer is getting popular with the netbook community but they have some of the worst warranties, customer service and desktops in the biz. I've got dozens of horror stories talking to the service rep who is not even ashamed as to how bad he knows they are. It's like Gateway coming back or something. Really?

acer laptops are good, i have one, but not my favorite. if it were for me i would invest my money in something thats reliable and will last me a long time, like an hp or a macbook.

to consider the regular price for an Acer, it's really a great deal. Don't talk about Mac, with that couple thousands of dollars, I can even buy a second-hand car

used cars dealer I always have to travel to some other countries for which this laptop will surely help me out.

Only Acer can call that piece of crap "ultra thin" .. are you kidding .. its bulky as hell.. . do you work for Acer? I can bet it wil lahve the same old heating issues that the foirst ferrai models did. ...got hot as hell, then usb ports and firewall ports died .. . .then the plastic started melting ... the ferrari modell was know for that. .. this will be the same..

wanted to buy one, but everyone who had acer has had reliability issues.. tried it myself - the keys are flat and edges keep getting in the way whe fast typing.. the pointer is shifted to left to accommodate number pad - awkward, not centered to the screen.. Apple cost about the same, but quality not comparable.

I needed a college laptop and I really wanted the Lenovo U330. After much deliberation, the 8 hour battery life on this Acer timeline (ithink) convinced me to get the Acer. After one week of using the timeline, I returned the acer back to newegg willing to foot the 15% restocking fee. In my opinion, the Core 2 Solo is way too weak to today's demands. I was able to webcam with people, but conference webcalls were laggy and unmanageable. HD videos on youtube were not playable, and Hulu on fullscreen fell to stutters. Overall, this Acer is a good laptop for word processing and surfing, but don't expect anything more. I immediately bought a Lenovo U330 and i'm very happy with it. I've managed to draw 4+ hours from the battery and that's all i need. just my 2 cents.
