Viliv X70 MID Pre-Orders July 6

Inspired by Inside Scoop Maestro Michael Brito -- he did a great video preview of the Viliv S5 back when the mobile Internet device was about to hit the market -- I got hooked on the solid, nifty Viliv MID design.

Just prior to Computex, my "i gotta have one" device desire was hijacked by the Viliv X70, the slightly bigger, more technically equipped Intel Atom powered) sibling to the Viliv S5.

I signed up for an alert and got a notice last week: X70 is ready for pre-orders on July 6.

Here’s what’s written on the Dyanamism site, which is offering a set of special accessories for the first 777 units sold:

The Viliv X70 is the latest Mobile Internet Device (MID) from Viliv that changes the way people think of mobile computing. And, we are thrilled to offer the following pre-order specials, available only for the first 777 units ordered on July 6:

  • Express Model Pre-Order Special: Free 1.3GHz Upgrade from 1.2Ghz, Car kit, Leather pouch, and Protective Film
  • Premium Models Pre-Order Special: Free Standard Battery, Car kit, Leather pouch, and Protective Film ($195 value)

Presale begins 1:00 p.m. ET on July 6. The first 777 pre-order customers who order a Premium model will also get a free Standard Battery, Car kit, Leather pouch, and Protective Film, together worth $195.

The first Viliv X70s will are expected to ship July 28. I just signed up to follow the chatter on the Dynamism Twitter account.

I have my eyes on the X70 Premium with 3G, currently selling for $879:

  • Intel Atom Z520 1.3GHz
  • 1GB Ram
  • 32GB Solid State HD
  • GPS
  • Windows XP Home
  • Built in HSPA modem (3G)

Is it the right MID for you? It helps to see UMPCPortal’s Steve Pain give his full review of the Viliv X70 here. Here’s Steve showing the device in action, focusing on how the soft keyboard works.

jkOnTheRun helps compare the Viliv S5 vs. Viliv X70 and also digs deeper into the X70, providing more photos and video.

When I first saw the Viliv S5, it was among the favoite designs I’d seen — others include the UMID mBook and the discontinued MID by OQO. But the moment I first saw the Viliv X70, it moved to the top of my favorite MID list.

I preferred the X70- because — it sounds funny to day — it’s a bit bigger, but still small and nifty. And when I fist saw the X70, it had a Webcam and could be ordered with built-in 3G. Since then, the X5 can now be purchased 3G ready.

Still, after reading reviews, watching videos and tweets over the past few weeks, the Viliv X70 seems to be one of the most sought after MIDs on the market.

Sure, with preorder of Viliv X70 they make a lot of interest with all the 777 lot! Also, they tell nothing yesterday when i called, they told at Dynamism it must be there tomorrow. Today; I received an email telling, "maybe! In 2 weeks (not sure!). Why companies announce new products 2 years ago, they already have working demos, and even after telling will be there a date, the SAME day supposed to be here, they won't have, for MAYBE weeks more! ebay don't permit, to get payment without having in stock!
