Sacramento LANFest 2009 - food, friends and lots of FUN!
I remember attending my first LAN Party back in the mid-90s - a small group of us; maybe 8 to 10 people at a friend's house. We played Quake 2 for about 10 hours... It wasn't so much the game-time that got us together - but it was the food, the friendships and the competition that pumped us up!
This past weekend, I attended Intel's Sacramento LANFest in Folsom, CA. Over 300 gamers attended to play over a dozen games! Everything from Plants vs. Zombies to full-blown Left 4 Dead! (what's with this Zombie infatuation lately?!?)Here is a quick video so you can see some of the fun!
I have to give a big shout-out to the Folsom RIGG (Recreational Intel Gaming Group) - these guys put their life aside for the weekend. Dealing with game servers, power requirements, network cabling - and a bunch of gaming guys can be nerve-racking! $20k in prizes were given out! 6 Extreme Edition CPUs, a gaming laptop & PC, and tons of other gaming garb!
You can meet the RIGG members in the gaming community too!
You can see my photos & short videos from the event on Flickr

Hi jasonurl - if you check out http://lanfest.intel.com you can see all the different locations and schedules. Here in Sacramento, I believe there are two major LANs each year - one in summer and one in winter.
Thanks for reading - and keep watching!
