Highlights from QuakeCon 2009

More than 6,000 passionate gamers showed up in force at QuakeCon 2009 this past week in Grapevine, Texas. In fact, after setting up the Intel booth the night before the event we peeked next door and were amazed to see thousands of people already waiting in line for the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) gaming area. The systems these gamers had were pretty cool too - some of them looked as if they could power a small country.

At the conference, the Intel team showcased the Core i7 processors, demoed the most recent version of Wolfenstein and sent out our Prize Patrol to distribute winning tickets to people who wore the blue Intel GAME ON buttons. Some gamers wore a single button and others really stood out to the Prize Patrol by covering their bodies with 50+ buttons. Throughout the conference, we gave away two laptops, seven processors and more than 500 other gaming prizes including t-shirts, hats, gear bags and chairs. One guy even won a laptop AND a processor and called Intel his "lucky charm" for the conference. All in all, it was great to interact with all the gamers and vendors, and catch a glimpse into their various passions and lifestyle. See the below for some awesome pictures.

We're looking forward to meeting many more passionate gamers at BlizzCon this week. If you're one of the lucky ones who snagged a ticket to BlizzCon 2009, be sure to stop by the Intel booth to grab your GAME ON button for a chance to win some of the fun prizes we have in store. If you want to find out the latest Intel gaming conference news and get the scoop on when and where the Intel Prize Patrol will be handing out prize tickets, follow us on Twitter.

Also, if you want to hook up with Intel personally, @Toadster @Britopian and @wedgewu will be at the conference. See you there!
