Thanks to everyone at Boxee for organising a great party on Tuesday night at the Bar Music Hall in Shoreditch. Despite being massively jetlagged, team Boxee put on a very brave show to demonstrate the latest, souped-up version of the Boxee Box to a packed room of app developers, content providers, journalists and Boxee users.
Since the box was introduced into the UK last November, there are updated features across catch-up TV, music and movie streaming. Boxee unveiled a new version of BBC’s iPlayer and announced that the two organisations would be working closely together on future versions of the iPlayer to ensure that the Boxee Box is one of the first devices to roll out any updates.
Bolstering its premium movie and TV library, Boxee has announced deals with blinkbox – the biggest UK online movies and TV provider, offering content for free or to rent; and also “other major names” will be coming soon – positioning the Boxee Box as the ultimate device for streaming thousands of movies directly to your TV from its extensive movie library.
After several pints, the evening came to a close with a raffle of Boxee Box prizes and an exclusive show by Pete and The Pirates, who played songs from their new album One Thousand Pictures. A great night and thanks again to all involved.
Thanks to the introduction of the new Boxee Box, UK TV viewers now have the opportunity to buy one of the best smart TV offerings on the market today – all powered of course by our Intel CE media processor.
