Intel Extreme Masters Day 2

Day two here at IEM consisted of more Star Craft II and League of Legends ranking matches, there was some intense competition determining who would make the quarter finals for Star Craft II and who would come out on top in League of Legends Group A raniking. After the dust settled On the Star Craft II competition the quarter finals look like this:

MC vs Select
mOOnGLaDe vs MaNa
Socke vs KAS
Puma vs Nerchio

League of Legends Group A ranking saw Team Solomid on top with 3 wins, Millenium with 2 wins, Team Alternate managed to win one round with MyRevenge at the botom with 0 wins. Group B ranking takes place on Friday to determine which teams from group A and B advance to the quarter final matches. We also broke a record today for the number of concurrent viewers watching the video streams of the competition. The old record was set in March at CeBIT with 95,000 concurrrent viewers, today we had 130,000 concurrent viewers…. WOW! No telling what the number will be for the semi finals and finals!!!!!!!

If yesterdays crowds were light, today made up for that, the place was packed! And tomorrow we expect even larger crowds, it’s going to be nuts! That’s a good thing though, the more people we have experiencing our 2nd generation Core processor family that’s more people awed by the performance (blatant Intel plug). It really is amazing, the crowds here at gamescom, not only here in the Intel Gaming area but throughout the entire convention center or messe to the locals, trying to make our way to lunch today was a real challenge. Here’s a picture of the crowd watching the competition, tomorrow they will be filling up the floor space as well….

The Intel Free Gaming Zone saw a lot of activity today as well, lots of smiling faces at the game kiosks with a steady flow of gamers coming through the booth. We gave away two Core i7 Extreme processor today, one to the winner of the Unreal Tournament 3 and one to the person who set the fastest time in the F1 simulators. We also had Team Fanatic show up for an autograph session which drew a fairly large crowd clamoring for an autographed picture of the team.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow where I plan to wander the halls I didn’t get to visits on Wednesday so check back tomorrow to see what I may have discovered. As far as the competition goes I’m picking Kas to win the Star Craft II title, I’ll wait and see who advances to the League of Legends quarter finals before I make my pick there, who’s your favorite to win? Let me know.
