Intel Extreme Masters Gamescom, the Wrap-up

It was an amazing start to the 2012/2013 Intel Extreme Masters Season 7, intense battles in both Star Craft II and League of Legends tournaments were the norm. MVP took top honors in Starcraft II competition while Moscow Five won the League of Legends EU Regionals. And what I can only assume is great honor; Nerchio took home the title of SICK NERD BALLER, which I believe goes to the player with the most heart, even if he doesn’t win, I’m sure Nerchio will wear the title proudly.

Star Craft II and League of Legends competition wasn’t the only thing happening at Intel Extreme Masters. A Core i7 Extreme processor was given away daily at our Unreal Tournament III mini tournament as well as the iRacing.com Formula 1 fastest lap competition, both taking place in the Extreme Masters consumer experience area. The consumer experience was populated with the latest and greatest video game, we had Rock Smith for the musically inclined gamer and a photo/video booth where guests could capture a photo or video and have it posted on the web. Heck, we even had an impromptu dance party breakout one evening.

Patriot Memory got in on the giveaways as well. To win all you had to do was get on twitter and tell Patriot (#iempatriot) why you need Patriot Ram. Here’s what was given away, these sticks are wicked!

Caterham Formula 1 test driver, Alexander Rossi, came by the consumer experience to sign autographs and talk about Formula 1 and what it’s like to be an F1 test driver. I had the privilege of chatting with him and we captured the interview on video.

All in all it was a great event, huge crowds every day, terrific Star Craft II and League of Legends tournaments and lots of really good German food.

Qualifications for Intel Extreme Masters at Ani-Com & Games Festival in Guangzhou, China have started so be sure to go to ESL World Intel Extreme Masters to see who is going to qualify and compete in the Star Craft II and League of Legends tournament.
