Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge, Guangzhou China is on!

Round two of Intel Extreme Masters Season VI has kicked off here in Guangzhou, China. Competitors from around the world have converged on the Intel Extreme Masters arena here at the Ani-Com and Games show to do battle. Featured games are Starcraft II, League of Legends and counter Strike 1.6. Competitors will be doing battle for $93,000 in prize money with the winners of StarCraft II taking home $21,000, League of Legends winners earning $32,000 and the winners of Counter Strike 1.6 walking away with a cool $40,000. Being really good at games can pay off! To follow the competition just go to the ESL Intel Extreme Masters web site, here you can watch live and recorded streams of all the matches and see the latest standings.

Along with the Global Challenge Competition we have the Intel Free Gaming Zone adjacent to the competition area, this is where the general public can come and play a myriad of games from tennis to Unreal tournament to driving a Formula 1 race car simulator, we have over a dozen different games to choose from all running on Intel Core i7 and Core i7 Extreme processors. To make things even more exciting for people coming into our Free Gaming Zone, we are running two public competitions each day. We run eight Unreal Tournament III competitions throughout the day taking the winner of each of those and pitting them against one another to determine the days champion, that person wins a Core i7 Extreme processor, pretty cool prize. We also have of Formula 1 fastest lap competition where the person that sets the fastest lap of the day in our Formula 1 simulators also wins a Core i7 Extreme processor… we’re handing these things out like candy here people!

We are also featuring the new Razer Hydra Controller, this is a really cool devise that takes the game play away from the keyboard and mouse and puts it in your hands using two “wands” that allow you to control the game play, this is really cool technology that brings gaming to a whole new level, you can check it out here.

My blog wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention the fantastic food we have been able to eat here in Guangzhou, last night we went to the local fish market where we picked our fish from an assortment of live fish and then had it prepared Cantonese style, yummy.
Please be sure to check back, I’ll be posting again with more info and stories about Intel Extreme Masters here in Guangzhou.
