Intel Extreme Masters Season 9 is On!

We are at day four of the Intel Extreme Masters Season 9 opener taking place here at the Shenzhen Cartoon and Anime Festival. The first three days have seen some awesome competition among the HearthStone, StarCraft II and League of Legends players, the tournament has been well received and the crowds have been enthusiastic.

The Hearthstone tournament has been completed with Amaz beating Azeri and taking home the $4,000 first prize. StarCraft II quarter finals are taking place today (Saturday the 19th) with the finals happening tomorrow with the winner taking home the lion’s share of the $25,000 prize.

The league of Legends final on Sunday is all set with Edward Gaming taking on World Elite for a share of the $5,000 prize money. I love the names these gamers come up with; if I had to come up with a name I think it would be “Fragged Again”. As always you can follow all the action on the Intel Extreme Masters website with live stream viewing, competition updates and feature stories.

Our Consumer Experience Zone has been a happening place as well with show attendees taking the opportunity to experience the latest Intel based devices. We have tablets, 2-in-1 laptops, gaming laptops and high end gaming desktops loaded up with the most popular games available. We also have our Formula 1 fastest lap of the day competition where the person who sets the fastest time for the day wins a Core i7 processor Extreme Edition and our ShootMania competition where the winner of the day receives an Intel Core i7 processor Extreme Edition as well.

Being at a Cartoon and Anime festival means cosplay and I have definitely seen some interesting characters walking around the show, the work that goes into the costumes is really amazing. I’ve posted pictures up on the Intel Extreme Masters Flickr album so click on the link and have a look.

Once the competition wraps up on Sunday and we’ve packed up all the gear I’ll recap the week here in Shenzhen so stay tuned.
