Intel Core i7 980x Extreme Edition: The Reviews Are In!

The Intel®  Core™  i7 980-X Extreme Edition launched today and the tech sites were loaded with reviews this morning.  I have to admit I rushed my usual cup of coffee to get to the computer.  I have always enjoyed seeing the different approaches that each site takes and the myriad of benchmarks.  It’s when my inner geek shines.

Today there were some really great articles:

Anandtech talked about the sexy new cpu cooler:

TechReport had some truly awe inspiring benchmarks comparing the Core i7 980X to a Pentium 4 670.  The Core i7 was up to 15 times faster in some of the video encoding benchmarks!  Granted, it’s not really a fair comparison but it is pretty amazing how far we have come in such a short time.

The venerable Tom’s Hardware found that the new Extreme edition processor actually uses less power than the Intel Core i7 975 .  Thank you 32nm magic!
