It’s all Fun and Games at IEM Comic Con

DLB_2353StarCraft II Heart of the Swarm is generating a lot of excitement here at Comic Con, the tournament area has been packed the past two days with StarCraft II fans and todays quarter final matches have the place packed as well. The Intel Extreme Masters website is the place to be if you can’t attend the matches here at Comic Con, live streaming as well as video on demand of previous matches is the order of the day so if you are a fan of StarCraft II you have to check it out. Our tournament sponsors, BenQ, HyperX and RaidCall have stepped up to help us put on an awesome tournament so a shout out to them for their support.

Our StarCraft II tournament is just part of the fun and games here at Comic Con; our Consumer Zone is packed as well with attendees playing games on the latest Intel Core i7 systems. We also have a number of Ultrabooks and tablets for folks to touch and play with including the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 as well as the amazing Wacom Cintiq Companion tablet powered by an Intel Core i7 processor. The Oculus Rift 3D Virtual Goggles have been a huge hit, these goggles give you a compete 360 degree view of your gaming world for an incredible immersive experience. We also have our ShootMania mini torunament  taking place throughout each day as well as our iRacing.com fastest lap competition where winners each day win an Intel Core i7 processor, score!

The crowd here has added to the excitement as well with a ton of cosplay, it’s pretty cool seeing what people come up with for costumes, lots of super heroes and video game characters ranging from the simple to the elaborate.

The highlight of the day on Friday was an appearance in our Consume Zone by Will.i.am, he was here with Intel Futurist Brian David Johnson to sign autographs and promote the comic book series Wizard’s and Robots,  a collaborative effort between Will.i.am and Johnson telling the story of futuristic robots traveling through time looking for powerful wizards.

I’m looking forward to what the rest of today and tomorrow bring, I’ll be posting more pictures to my IEM Flickr photostream adding to what I posted yesterday so be sure to check that out. His latest gig is with the Intel Extreme Masters Gaming Series where he provides general technical support. Don’s an avid gamer, mostly first person shooters, his real passion is on-line racing with iRacing.com which is the closest thing to driving a real race car as you’re going get. Don is also a skier, photographer and avid motorcyclist, making two cross country trips and a trek to the Arctic Circle and back from his home in San Jose, CA.
