What Clothing Accessories Should be Intel Smart? A Q and A with will.i.am and Mooly Eden
Many of you know that will.i.am has been out traveling the world, creating music and using the Ultrabook as his travel companion as part of the Ultrabook Project . The busy Director of Creative Innovation at Intel turns out to be very visionary about what needs to become “smart” around us, in our home and even what we wear.
Will.i.am dropped into an Intel engineering conference in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday to have a chat with Intel Senior Vice President, Shmuel, “Mooly” Eden, where Mooly asked will.i.am on the origin of the will.i.am. will.i.am quipped that his name is a registered domain along with many other similar versions like i.am.will and it was all inspired by the dotcom phenomenon. Another proof point that will.i.am was visionary from way back in the day when technology started to boom and he could change his name to literally a domain. Will dot I dot am.
Their conversation went very visionary, from talking about how all things, including accessories will become smart. Perhaps in the future we should look to make your glasses smart to your earrings, or smart jackets?? They discussed the possibility that your house should have an OS. My favorite exchange was when will.i.am talked about how the phone is now your wallet, essentially a computer with all your information on it. He asked Mooly “why do you wear a watch”? Your phone now tells you what time it is, your watch shows your age, as the audience chuckled. The watch should become smart, all accessories should be smart. Will.i.am dressed in his usual fashionable style, even commented about the jacket lapel? What is it for?? Does anybody know? Maybe we can make the lapel smart??
This intrigued me to find the origin of the lapel and it came from older jackets being unbuttoned and folded back in hot weather.
Now my question to you is what is your idea of a smart lapel? Maybe we should make it digital to keep a pulse on your body temperature?
