Tell us your story and possibly win a netbook!

On Monday this week, we kicked off the "What's Inside You Sweepstakes".  Share your story of how Intel processors make a difference in your life and be entered into a drawing with the chance to win several notable prizes, including a Sony VAIO* W series netbook autographed by Conan O'Brien.

Since Monday, we've seen at least a dozen great entries - so don't forget to share your story!  Over the next few weeks, during the sweepstakes, I'll be sharing stories from sweepstakes entrants, so stay tuned!

Terra and her netbook

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Terra Reilly, co-founder of Captive Orbit, a digital marketing agency in Seattle, WA.  Terra's one of those amazing people who is accomplished and fun loving, it really was a pleasure to meet with her.  As I've stated before, I'm a little bit of a luddite when it comes to gadget collecting.  While I love working at Intel and seeing new technologies and innovations in process, at home, in my personal life, I don't have a lot of gadgets.  I do have a newer laptop with a Core2 Duo processor at home, but no fancy iPhone or anything in my purse.

However, after meeting Terra, and hearing about how she loves her netbook - and how her netbook sets her free, I am starting to really consider purchasing one of those cute little netbooks I keep walking past at the local store...  Here's her story:

What about you? Have you bought a netbook? Is there a reason why you haven't or won't? Let me know in comments or share your story with us as part of "What's Inside You"!

Interview with Digital Artist about his Core i7

I've had the pleasure of meeting Mike Landry through my work at Intel.  He's a Digital Content Creator/ Movie Maker out of San Francisco.  He's created two works for Intel: Cubicle and Wall Crawl.  The second video was created on a Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition based desktop, Intel's most extreme processor available at this time.  We were able to bring Mike to Intel and interview him about his experiences with his new system...  I hope you enjoy this little clip:

WIY Contest Winners have been notified

This judges have completed their scorecards and the 3 winners of the What's Inside You Contest have all been notified. Because there is a qualification process (as outlined in the Rules of the Contest), the winners will not be broadly announced until March 2, 2009.

Thank you all who contributed entries to the Contest. Personally, I really enjoyed seeing the amazing projects that were created using a variety of Intel processors. And while the Contest is over, we're always welcoming new stories to our Collection. Share yours today!

WIY Contest Timeline

The judges are in deliberation this week for the WIY Contest. Our original intent was to notify the Top 3 this week - and we are running a little behind schedule. Be patient! The notifications should be sent out early next week. Once notification occurs, there is a period during which the winners must work with Intel (actually an agency working on our behalf) to select prizes, sign some forms, etc... Please refer to the Rules for more details.

March 2 is still the date for when the Winners will be publicly announced! Best luck to everyone!

What's Inside You Contest: Top 10 Vote-Getters

img-wiy-landing-contest.jpgFor those of you who have been following the Intel What's Inside You Contest, you might be wondering what the top 10 stories are that got the most community votes. Well, we have the results and I'm going to share them here . First, though, a few words about the contest.

This was the first time Intel ran a contest like this one where we asked people to submit their stories, along with photos or videos explaining how they use an Intel processor to do something innovative. We're really happy with the results of the contest. First, nearly 50 stories that were submitted! Unfortunately, though, not all of them actually qualified for the contest. For example, for legal reasons, this contest was only open to U.S. residents, as stated in the contest rules and regulations. So if you submitted a story and you're from somewhere outside the U.S., unfortunately your story doesn't qualify for the contest, but we are featuring ALL stories on the What's Inside You site.

Let the Suspense Continue...

The What's Inside You Contest has officially ended. So, what's next?

Early next week, the judging will begin. To help kick this off, we will be going through the Top 10 Community Vote Getters and ensuring that only valid entries are included in the list provided to the Judges. This means that a few entries will be removed due to the Rule, "US residents only". While Intel is a global company, unfortunately, this particular contest is for US residents only for legal purposes. To help everyone understand who is on the Top 10 and who is not in the Top 10, I will publish the official list and update the Share Your Story page with the accurate list. Watch for this next week!

Crawl the Wall

Mike Landry has shared his most recent video creation with us, called Wall Crawl. He used a desktop powered by Intel's latest and the world's fastest microprocessor, Intel® Core™ i7 Extreme Edition. Enjoy!

48 Entries to Vote for!

Tomorrow at 11:59:00 EST, the What's Inside You Contest will be closing down voting. Right now, there are a total of 48 entries into the Contest.

We had some reports of website issues which prevented some entries from being successfully entered into the Contest. If you experienced this issue, please accept my sincere apologies. Our team did everything we could do and we have not been able to reproduce the problem. Without reproducing the issue, it's difficult to fix it!

[UPDATE] Looks like many of the issues were related to session timeout errors.  If you were in the middle of entering a submission and left your form open for more than 1 hour, the website did not offer an error message of any kind.  Submissions were lost.  We will work to correct this issue in the future.

One day left...

...for your chance to enter your submission into the What's Inside You Contest! We want to hear about the amazing things you are doing with your Intel processor. The prize packages total up to $6,900 and free t-shirts for entering a qualified submission.

But wait! If you are more the shy type, you can still help out your favorite submitters by voting for your favorite stories. So, stop on by Our Collection of Entries and vote today!

For your enjoyment, here's a musical entry from Txzorculeus, Core 2 Duo user:

Seven Days left...

There are seven days remaining in the What's Inside You Contest! On January 15th, the submission period ends while voting remains open for a week beyond, ending on January 22nd. If you are going to enter for some fabulous prizes, start working on your submission now!

This morning, a new submission came in that once again really shows some talent! Check out Tarek Fahd, a website designer / music lover who created a really cool website, i-shout.com. Surfing around, I came across Tarek's version of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. I enjoyed it and thought I would share it with you all... Mind you, I work for Intel, but my preferences have nothing to do with final voting and winners.

Why Max?

This week in Portland, Clear launched it's WiMAX service. A few months ago, XOHM launched it's WiMAX service in Baltimore, MD. With these two companies merging, WiMAX service should be pretty interesting to watch in 2009.

As part of the general WiMAX roll-out, Intel sponsored a Customer Experience Program in Baltimore, Maryland from October 20 through December 5, 2008. Some of the videos are in! In the following video, meet Toby Cornish, a medical resident who really pushed WiMAX to the limits, downloading and streaming movies and music, and making VOIP calls:

If you are out there using an Intel Processor, we'd love to hear your story!

Contest Continues - Triple Booting leads Community Votes

The community voting is active! Last week, we had a run between Andy Poland and lplasch for first place. This week, Triple Booting is racing into the lead. Voting is open through January 22 and only leads into the Official Judge voting. Please read through the Official Contest Rules & Regulations for more information on how the voting and judges work.

Triple Booting is pretty interesting and it seems the lplasch has chimed in through the comments on a little more insight into his entry: "For the curiously minded: I am running OS X 10.5, Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), Windows Vista, Windows XP. If anybody is interested in the setup process then I can post it as well. Cheers!"

On a side note, I'd like to be transparent that we are finding some technical issues with some stories as they are submitted and we are working through them. If you find that you submit a story and it does not appear, please feel free to pipe up in the comments. Right now, there are two stories that we are actively pursuing bugs with - Andrew Lockhart and BOHN - which will be published later today for all to see.

Centrino 2 laptops are on the line... Submit your story today!

It's neck-and-neck in the What's Inside You contest

I'll admit it, I'm competitive.I come from a very competitive family and I do like to see a little healthy competition from time to time.

Which is why I'm intensely watching the neck-and-neck race going on right now between the top 2 entries in Intel's What's Inside You contest running now.img-wiy-landing-contest.jpg

As of this morning, Andy Poland's "Putting the Band Back Together" story about how he uses his Intel-based Mac Pro to create a band featuring his kids singing the songs has 42 community votes. Closely Behind Andy with 35 community votes is the "Triple Booting" story from "lplasch" who is running 3 different operating systems on a MacBook, which he says he can do thanks to the power of an Intel processor.

I've already voted, but I'm not going to say which is my favorite. Who did you vote for? Your votes are important because they'll help narrow down the contest entries to the top 10. Then a panel of some very cool judges (including Intel Insiders Sarah Austin and Irina Slutsky) will determine the top 3 stories and the winners get some sweet prizes (laptop, cash, Amazon.com gift certificate, etc.).

Better yet, do you have your own story to tell? Why not enter and put yourself in the running for a great new Intel Centrino 2-based laptop or maybe an Intel Atom netbook? It's so easy (really wish I could enter myself).

Go tell your story here.

Andy Poland's putting the band back together!

This week, the What's Inside You Contest launched!

The current top submission based on community votes is Andy Poland who works with his kids to create music. He uses a Intel® Core™2 Duo processor to power his desktop computer. Listen to his music below:

Go Andy! I love the "a cool pair of shoes is all I need for disco-ing!"

The prize packages include your choice of Intel® Centrino® 2-based Laptop! If you're not sure what kind of laptops this means, shop around...

My advice? Submit your story today!

What's Inside You? Tell us and win!

Got a creative bone in your body? Share your story with us about how you use your PC or Mac and its processor to unleashed your creativity! Today Intel kicked off the What's Inside You contest inviting ANYONE with the creative bug to tell us their stories about how using an Intel processor-based computer has helped them create some amazing stuff!

There are so many cool things you can do with your computer; maybe you're a budding filmmaker thanks to your processor. Perhaps you're a teacher using an Intel processor to bring advanced technology into your classroom in a unique and engaging way or you're a multi-tasking mom who uses the power of an Intel processor to stay on top of your schedule and stay in touch with family and friends. Maybe you use your high-def video, audio or graphics computer as a digital artist or musician, or maybe you do something even cooler!

Meet Tanaka Shuichiro, Bijinga (美人画) Artist

One of the great things about working at a Global Company is the worldwide perspective.  In the last year, we've collected and published ~200 customer stories spanning ~11 countries and most continents.  One of my favorite digital artists I've seen along the way is Tanaka Shuichiro, an artist out of Japan.

Tanaka uses a desktop powered by Intel's Core™2 Extreme processor.  I first heard of Tanaka from the Japanese Web Marketing team.  Apparently, his Desktop Wallpaper art is an extremely popular download!  And why shouldn't it be?  It's beautiful:

Tanaka is exploring new and interesting ways to mix traditional artist methods like painting with digital art methods.  He relies heavily on the traditions of Bijinga for inspiration.  Check out some of his work today and download calendar wallpaper for your desktop.
